The Chengdu-Guiyang Railway is about 632 kilometers long, with the design speed of 250 kilometers per hour. It is reported that Chengdu-Leshan Section of the railway was opened in December 2014, and Leshan-Yibin Section was put into operation on June 15, 2019. The length of Yibin-Guiyang section of the railway is about 370 kilometers. There are 139 tunnels and 269 bridges along the section. The ratio of bridges to tunnels is as high as 85%. The slope of some sections reaches 30. The track laying began in October 2018.

After the opening of the Chengdu-Guiyang Railway, a new large railway corridor will take shape, which will further shorten the travel time and distance between the southwest and northwest areas of China and the Eastern and Southern areas of China, improve the structure of the western area’s railway network, promote the development of tourism along the line, speed up the construction of urban agglomerations in Sichuan, Yunnan and Guizhou provinces, promote economic and social development there, and implement the national strategy of developing the western area of China.

At present, the section from Yibin to Guiyang of the railway has entered the final stage of static acceptance, and the next step of construction will be the integrated commissioning and test.
