  Situated beside Lianhuachi park, Fengtai district, Beijing West Station serves as the departure station and destination station of Beijing-Guangzhou Railway, Beijing-Kowloon Railway and Beijing-Guangzhou High Speed Railway (HSR), connecting Beijing-Guangzhou Railway, Beijing-Kowloon Railway, Beijing-Qinhuangdao Railway, Beijing-Shanhaiguan Railway and Fengtai-Shacheng Railway, all trunk lines. Beijing West Station was the largest modern railway station in Asia when put into operation, providing HSR and conventional passenger services. 

  The predecessor of the station is Qianmen West Station built in 1901. Beijing West Station was built with a duration of 3 years, from January 19, 1993 to January 21, 1996. Its architectural style fits the ancient capital, and its arch embodies the gate of the city. It covers 510,000 square meters with the length of 550 meters and width of 290 meters, and the service area covers 300 thousand square meters.    

  Conventional and HSR trains on Beijing-Guangzhou Railway, Beijing-Kowloon Railway, Beijing-Baotou Railway, Lanzhou-Lianyungang Railway, etc. are operated from Beijing West Station, heading for 170 central, western and southern cities such as Sanya, Guangzhou, Kowloon, Kunming, Urumchi, Chengdu. The average daily number of train operated at the station reaches 182, and the annual ridership was over 100 million.           

  Beijing West Station has waiting areas for HSR VIP passengers, 036 major passengers, soldiers and mothers and infants, and was awarded “Pacesetter of Capital Civilization Units”, “Five-star Service Quality Award”, “Advanced Unit in Publicity, Ideological and Cultural Work”, “Service Quality Innovation Award”, “Railway Establishing Demonstration Unit of Activities for National Unity and Progress”, etc.
